KaVo DIAGNOdent
The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs' Acceptance of DIAGNOdent 2095 is based on its findings that the product is effective as an aid in the detection and monitoring of caries on sound (unrestored or unsealed) and thoroughly cleaned and accessible tooth surfaces.

Thanks to advanced technology, lasers can help detect unseen decay long before other conventional methods. Introducing the Diagnodent - a gentle and completely safe procedure.
The Diagnodent uses a low-intensity laser to locate hidden decay - much like a metal detector locates a metal object hidden
in the ground. It produces sounds as the size of the cavity increases. This breakthrough technology has been proven to be virtually 100% accurate in finding small subsurface cavities that our traditional technique might miss. Even very small cavities are detected at the earliest stage, enabling us to preserve and protect more of your tooth
substance.
DIAGNOdent® laser caries detection system has earned the ADA Seal of Acceptance.
The DIAGNOdent has positively changed the protocols of thousands of dentists and hygienists. Millions of patients have
benefited from this non-invasive diagnostic tool and have improved their perception of dental care. The DIAGNOdent is significantly more accurate in identifying early stage lesions than conventional methods.
The KaVo DIAGNOdent has the unique ability to find "hidden caries", commonly known as cavities or decay, a widespread phenomenon associated with the pervasive use of fluoride, which fortifies tooth enamel. However, despite the benefits of
stronger enamel, traditional caries diagnostics, like the sharp explorer, once effective in the pre fluoride era, are no longer reliable. The implication of the current diagnostic challenge is that decay can progress under seemingly
intact tooth structure, undiscovered and untreated by the clinician. The DIAGNOdent scans tooth structure with a harmless laser light, detecting sub surface caries. The device grades the lesion using a numeric scale, allowing the clinician to take appropriate action, before the decay can progress.
The award of the ADA Seal of Acceptance provides additional validation for the DIAGNOdent and demonstrates that the instrument has emerged as a new standard of care.
